Many of us know dishcloths top the list of unhygienic kitchen items, yet few act on it consistently.
A Major Source of Bacteria
Last year, the Ministry of Health highlighted the health risks from kitchen mold and bacteria, which can lead to illness. In most homes, the dishcloth is the biggest culprit—used daily to wipe countertops, stoves, dining tables, chairs, fridges, and ovens.
Wash Your Dishcloth Daily
Health experts recommend washing it every day. However, 60% of Dutch households don't, and one in five only replace theirs weekly.
Opt for the Hottest Wash Possible
The Ministry advises 90°C for best results. Despite awareness, half wash at 60°C, 18% at 40°C, and 4% at just 30°C.
