Looking stunning daily starts with the perfect lip color—and we all know a versatile collection of reds, pinks, and more is essential. Each outfit deserves its signature shade!
But building that collection can get expensive. As a beauty expert with years of DIY makeup experience, I've perfected a budget-friendly hack to create your own custom lipsticks using everyday items.

- A piece of lipstick, lip balm, or petroleum jelly (amount depends on how much lipstick you want to make)
- A bit of blush
OR
- A bit of eyeshadow
- A small heat-safe container, like a spoon
This simple recipe takes just 4 steps and yields professional-quality results:
1. Add your chosen eyeshadow or blush to a small, heat-safe container.
2. Mix in lip balm (or alternative base). Use more for a sheer finish, less for bolder opacity.
3. Gently heat the container over a flame to melt the balm. Stir with a toothpick for even blending.
4. Pour into a portable container and let cool.
Allow it to set for a few minutes, and voilà—your custom lipstick is ready! Apply with fingertips for a natural look.
Don't love the shade? Reheat, tweak with another color, and add more balm as needed.
Bonus: Revive old, unused lipsticks by melting and remixing them into fresh shades.
